In February of this year PETA (people for the ethical treatment of animals) staged a protest outside of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. PETA protests the dog show each year and this year they positioned two PETA members outside Madison Square Garden dressed in Ku Klux Klan uniforms.
"Crowds gawked at a table set up outside Madison Square Garden on Monday afternoon, where People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals was protesting the start of the Westminster Kennel Club show. PETA contends that the American Kennel Club promotes pure breeding of dogs that is harmful to their health.
"'Welcome AKC Members,' reads a banner hanging from the table with AKC crossed out and KKK written above it. Two PETA protesters dressed as Ku KluxKlan members, while other volunteers handed out brochures that read: 'The KKK and the AKC: BFF?'"
"Obviously it's an uncomfortable comparison," PETA spokesman Michael McGraw said. But the AKC is trying to create a "master race", he added."It's a very apt comparison."
The group passed out brochures conveying that the Klan and AKC both strive for "pure bloodlines".
It amazes me that these PETA members were comfortable sporting KKK uniforms. Sometimes it seems like PETA is a cult itself.
In the past I have posted information on PETA and how the organization often promotes their ideals through exploiting women. Here they have the audacity to compare breeding dogs and the evils of racism.
Obviously PETA wants attention to their cause and I think they are quite proud of their tactics. It's amazing that anyone would contribute to this organization as they are socially insensitive and irresponsible.
