Have You Ever Seen A Natural Birth?

I am a woman who does not want children however, lately, I have been obsessed with watching footage of natural births on YouTube. Perhaps a strange thing to be obsessed with but these women are true warriors.

Notice that the woman is not laying on her back as she would be if she were on a hospital bed. Laying on one's back is not the optimal position for birth. In fact it makes things a lot harder.

I have so much respect for midwives. For more information on natural birthing I highly recommend that you watch documentary film The Business of Being Born. The film discusses how medical hospitals rush the birthing process as they are business.

As mentioned I am a woman who does not want children. I am not going to have the experience of having the choice between a natural home birth or a birth inside the walls of a hospital. I can say that watching the midwives at work here is inspiring. These women (and I'd love it if more men were involved) encourage mothers to be involved in the birthing process.

Perhaps you are thinking, "well, of COURSE, the mothers are involved in the birthing process. They are the ones giving birth!" But what about actually looking down and seeing your child? What about the option of actually catching your own baby as it comes out of you. You earned that experience!
