National Recovery Month & National Wellness Week

Following the coattails of World Wide Suicide Prevention Day and National Suicide Prevention Week is National Recovery Month and National Wellness Week.

Prevention Works - Treatment is effective - People Recover

September is National Recovery Month. It is a period that acknowledges that mental health is an important part of well being. People can and do recover from mental disorders and substance abuse.

National Recovery Month will end with National Wellness Week which takes place on September 19th through the 25th.

National Wellness Week celebrates overall well being. I believe that wellness includes mental, emotional, physical, intellectual, spiritual aspects of life. Plug in your own ideas here.

September 19th will mark the first annual National Wellness Week. With so many different types of days, weeks, and months dedicated to physical and mental health, it can feel overwhelming. Sure, there is a myriad of ways one can get involved during these periods of acknowledgment, however, I believe it is more important to educate oneself. If you are interested or have reached a state of passion about mental health issues, learn all you can and become an advocate of others and yourself.
