Vintage 1940s Blue Rayon Chiffon Dress and Coat Ensemble from Poppy's Vintage

Slack jaw. It's mine, all mine! Found this at Poppy's Vintage via Ruby Lane. Ruby Lane is a site that allows buying and selling of vintage clothing. Ruby Lane is the host site and anything you purchase belongs to a seller/online shop.

Description: This is a vintage early 40s ensemble consisting of a dress with over piece - the dress is fairly transparent, so I guess that you might call this an “over coat”, although it is almost like a peignoir in form and could be worn as a dress itself with a bit of alteration. The dress has princess capped sleeves with gathered faggoting at the seam. The center area under the bust is also faggoted with gathering as is either side of the upper neckline. The dress has a belt that hooks at the back in order to cinch the waist. The over coat is cut in a similar way, but with no gathering/faggoting. It does up with 10 matching covered buttons at the center front.

I've got several vintage shoes in mind, that will go great with these pieces. I know we are far past the 30/40s, but I think that designers need to make clothing like this. They'd sell, believe you me.
