Support Saudi Women in the Women2Drive Movement! Sign the Letter to US and Saudi Politicians!

This Friday, June 17th 2011, women in Saudi Arabia will risk the possibility of arrest by doing something many of us take for granted. They will drive cars. Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world where women are not allowed to drive!

Please sign this letter to Saudi and U.S. decision makers, sponsored by the Feminist Majority Foundation, to help Saudi women win the right to go wherever they choose, independently.

Watch this video. This is footage of IT security consultant Manal al-Sharif. She posted this video of herself on YouTube. It shows her driving on Thursday May 19th. 32 year old Manal al-Sharif, drove in her car through Khobar in Saudi Arabia. Women's rights activist Wajeha al-Huwaider rode along side al-Sharif. Al-Huwaider filmed al-Sharif as she drove and the two talked about the limitations they face as women.

Manal al-Sharif was arrested and detained for five days. Her detention was later extended by another four days as she was being investigated. Al-Sharif's 5 year old son was in the hospital at the time.
