Is Obama Truly The 1st Gay President?

It's meant to be a provocative cover but it's also wrong.

Supposedly Mr. Obama is "The First Gay President" because he is now in favor of gay marriage. While this is momentous, it is also coming very late. Better late than never? Yes, of course, but I still have beef with the President whom I support.

The President has told us that he thought civil unions were "sufficient" and he is now realizing that they are not. If this is truly the case, the mindset of the President is still in a homophobic place. If he was 100% supportive of the LGBTQIQ community, he would never have thought that they should receive any less than what he has.

It's impossible to know what the President is truly thinking. That is what makes it so difficult to know how to fully trust him. There is much talk about the timing of his announcement. Some believe it is strategic being that he is closer to the next election. I wonder if he feels it is safer to come out with this than it was during his first campaign run. We don't know if he was lying when he originally said that he was against gay marriage. We don't know if he wasn't. We don't know how he actually feels now. For that, I do not consider him our First Gay President.
