Hello Kitty tattoo being inked

I've seen this Hello Kitty tattoo many times before. This photo is via KBO on flickr.

It always seemed so perfect to me. Pretty good lines and vivid colors. My only real issue is that this tattoo is facing towards its audience rather than towards the person. I know a lot of people get tattooed this way but it always seems so non-sensical. It never looks right to me.

I only just learned that there is actual footage of this tattoo being inked.
