Overdue

Remember when this was considered Emo? Whiny, folky, poppy. I had forgotten all about this band. I'm sure I have some CDs lying around.

You're a few years overdue.
I spent them waiting here for you.
Now your charity's refused,
I can name a penance for abuse.

Twenty four years overdue,
what kind of role model are you?

Very least learn not to do,
I think I might be over you.

Do hope I won't
Learn to make
The same mistakes,
That you would
Make me aware
That only fear,
My only hope,
Is letting go.

Went on a limb for you,
Capsized when I turned twenty two.

Did it burn as bad for you?
No bottle serves to soothe my wounds.

Do hope I won't
Learn to make
The same mistakes,
That you would
Make me aware
That only fear,
My only hope,
Is letting go.
My only hope
Is letting go.

You're a few years overdue.
I spent them waiting here for you.

  1. That's so weird that I just came across this after leaving my last comment on your dashboard post. I was thinking about how in the late 90's I was so into Emo. Ya know, what emo was before it totally took a weird turn. I used to go to this place called The PCH Club in Wilmington. It was a hole in the wall, maybe fit about 40 people in it. I was lucky enough to see get up kids their (I have some photos from that show on my facebook). Some other bands in that genre that I totally loved that weren't as well known that you might check out if you haven't are JeJune (a female fronted 90's emo band), Strictly Ballroom. Those are the only ones I can think of at the moment that I saw at the PCH Club, but you might like them. xoxo

  2. Hey! It's funny that you should comment on these music posts cuz I was tinkering with the idea of deleting them.

I guess I'll keep them up now! :)

There is this mystery as to when "Emo" originated. Some say that hardcore music that was birthed in Washington D.C. in the 80s was actually Emo.

Then it became this stuff and some how it made a giant ugly leap to a hybrid of goth and ...I don't know what.

Ah, labels. So helpful and so irritating.

I will definitely check out those bands you mentioned. I hadn't heard of them before.

I will also check out your facebook pics.

    Thanks for stopping by girlie!
