~Quidam~
A nameless passer-by, a solitary figure lingering on a street corner, a person rushing past. It could be anyone, anybody. Someone coming, going, living in our anonymous society. A member of the crowd, one of the silent majority. The one who cries out, sings and dreams within us all.
This is how Cirque Du Soliel describes this amazing show. I have had the good fortune of witnesses various Cirque performances but I must say that Quidam is my ultimate favorite. Not only is Quidam my favorite due to the particular performances but also because of the theme.
Today I was listening to the soundtrack and it brought back a lot of memories. If you are able to see a Cirque show I highly recommend it. As a person who dances I often wish I could join the cast and feel the freedom of their art.
During the several parts of the show a mysterious image or character will appear and then run away or walk away. In true Quidam philosophy I believe the idea is that a stranger who we know little or nothing about may still hold significance.
Strangers are storytellers and if we choose we can walk up to them with knife and fork...eat their knowledge like cake. We are all Quidam.
Let Me Fall sung by Mathieu Lavoie
Let Me Fall
Let me fall
Let me climb
There's a moment when fear
And dreams must collide
Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear them
Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not rise
I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains
Someone I am
Is waiting for my courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me
So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear
Let me fall
If I fall
There's no reason
To miss this one chance
This perfect moment
Just let me fall
