Manga Mala is a traditional design often worn in South India. The individual designs above are known as "mango" shaped. Mangoes are one of my favorite fruits and I have always thought fruit to be aesthetically pleasing. One of natures great beauties.
I came to learn that in Indian folklore, the mango tree has long been believed to be the wish granting tree and has come to symbolize life, love and happiness.
I purchased this 1gm gold plated necklace from Vadaamalar.com for only $19.89. The cheapness in price was initially concerning as often this type of jewelry can be expensive.
I am now on a hunt to find more mango necklaces.
