Female Republican Politicians: Yes, we dislike them but why spew sexist rhetoric?

Republican congresswoman Michele Bachmann is running for president. She's been in the news lately as her anti-gay and anti-feminist musings have been flashed across news reports. The woman wants to be our president. Yikes.

Yesterday Conan O'Brien's sidekick Andy Richter tweeted on Twitter about Bachmann. “There’s nothing wrong with Michele Bachmann that two solid weeks of orgasms couldn’t cure”.

Richter's tweet garnered many angry responses to which Richter replied, “Many cried ‘misogyny!’ re: earlier Bachmann tweet. I take solace in knowing that as bad as I am, I am half the misogynist she is.”

This is a useless defense. Bachmann's political stances are without question deplorable, however, two wrongs don't make a right. Misogyny should never be tolerated under any circumstances.

There seems to be a certain way in which we attack politicians. If we don't like what they stand for we mimic their voices, we crack jokes about their hair, and some of us make homosexual and/or sexist remarks. All of the above is immature and some of it is down right hateful.

Not only is this practice offensive but it is very telling of the mindsets of certain people. It appears that even some of the most liberal of people are willing to make sexist remarks which reflect inherent sexist ideologies. Depressing isn't it?

The attacks upon Bachmann get worse.

Recently Bachmann attended the Iowa State Fair and was photographed eating a corndog. The way in which Bachmann ate the corndog appeared to be sexual in nature. Or rather I should say the photographer made sure to capture Bachmann in such a way that insinuated a sexual reference.

I can't stand this pesistent idea that we have free range to mistreat and misperceive women based on our distaste for them and/or what they believe in.

Bachmann is a dangerous woman and we have reason to be worried. If she becomes our president we are all in a lot of trouble. Even so this is not a case where she deserves what she gets.

We are in 2011 and the concept of pea shooting misogynist speech towards politicians we dislike is definitely not new. It is something that will continue even though it is a vain attempt to vent or to make a point.

Recently I was watching a couple of Ann Coulter interviews as she has a new hate filled book called "Demonic."

I was immediately reminded of a song entitled "Ann Coulter's Snatch" by Hamell on Trial. No doubt there are some who are laughing at this title while others are disgusted. I am actually a fan of the majority of Hammel on Trial's music. He's a kick ass musician. Unfortunately, he loves singing about Coulter's vagina.

"There are some douches that'll never fail ya unless they come up against Ann's genitalia. You take the low road, I'll take the lower road, you've met your match. And I admit I get a kick out of talking about Coulter's snatch. "

I think I'll leave you with one more example. Margaret Cho. Funny comedienne but sometimes is over the top for my taste. Unfortunately when she's bad she's very VERY bad.

"I think Laura Bush is pretty, but you know her pussy tastes like Lysol."

I bet you can come up with many more examples on your own.

For the men and and women who consider themselves to be feminists but participate in this backwards "humor", I beg of you rethink your strategy. Then please ask yourselves WHY you find humor in such hatred.
