Widow

A dress made of 100,000 dressmaker's needles.

This dress is  Susie MacMurray’s “Widow,”. The dress was created with black Napa leather and more than 94 pounds of adamantine dressmaker pins. The dress is currently on display at Victoria & Albert Museum’s “Power of Making” exhibit in London. The dress was created in 2009. The dress is meant to convey grief of lost love.

Widow is the fourth in a series of garment sculptures that explore concepts of female identity. According to Jasmin Malik Chua at ecouterre, "pins have strong associations with 'women’s work'—and vulnerability. Look but don’t touch."
