According to kittyhell.com Sanario made the Hello Kitty massager in 1997. They gave Genayo Co. license to distribute the products. When Sanario found out that many women were using the massagers as vibrators they instructed Genayo to discontinue distribution. Genayo had no intentions of doing this as the massagers had reached cult status. Sanario attempted to revoke Genayo's licensing rights.
According to kittyhell.com
"The fight between the two companies continued until Genyo Co.’s top officials found themselves in tax trouble for some shady business dealings they were involved with. This gave Sanrio the reason they needed to revoke the license and Sanrio took the “shoulder massagers” off the market. The shoulder massagers that were still in outlets were soon bought up and sold as collector items sometimes reaching over $100 on eBay."
Bizarrely enough in 2007 the Hello Kitty vibrators turned up on the Sanario website.
Recently Seattle's Toys In Babeland held a contest with the Hello Kitty vibrator in mind. TIB invited fans to take photos of the vibrator out and about in different landscapes.
The winner has yet to be announced. To see more photos go to the Toys In Babeland website or the Toys In Babeland facebook page.
If you want to purchase the vibrator for yourself you can buy it for $40 at Toys In Babeland.
As a side note I very much recommend Toys In Babeland. It is a sex toy shop that created in 1993. The shop has branches in Seattle and New York. There was a shop in Los Angeles but it shut down due to low productivity. So sad for me as I live within LA county. Phooey!
The show is pretty, clean and a great environment to shop in. The shop holds workshops and seminars and art shows. The staff are knowledable and many are sex educators.
